Expert Oil Painting Conservators and Picture Restoration

This Picasso etching, signed by the famous artist, recently came to the studio with a huge amount of acid due to past framing techniques. The back board had burnt in an inverted image of carbon to the reverse of the print, and it had been rolled in a thin tube.

We managed to clean the print and remove all traces of acid from the paper. Paper conservation had helped to reverse damage from bad framing techniques andd increase the prints life. It must be remembered that Conservation was not always a known as good practice, and many Artists were not well known in their time and so many were poorly framed for this reason (though of course Picasso was a celebrity in his own time).
